It’s that time of the year again – THE HALF OF THE HOMIES AKA Homieshalf
This year we once again invited all of the homies to come to Berlin and show the city what urban running culture is all about.
For the sixth time our international friends from Tokyo to Rotterdam hopped on a plane, train or automobile to participate running 21.0975 km in the city of Berlin.
In case you missed out, here’s what went down.
On Friday we all gathered at the Berlin Braves HQ in the heart of Kreuzberg for a warm welcoming.
We had the honor of rolling out the red carpet for a very special person – U23 European record holder Julien Wanders.
In case the name rings a bell but you’re not sure into which context to put him, he's the one that recently finished a half marathon in 1:00:09. The Swiss expat sat down with Track Mafia’s very own Bit Beefy for an inspiring Q&A about his journey in running.
After a lively hour of chats and laughs we exclusively dropped our latest merch collection, enjoyed Cuban Street Food provided by Old Papa and shook a hip or two to the tunes of Haizel and Christian Rich.
On Saturday we made sure the performance aspect of the weekend wouldn't get the short end of the stick and took everyone around the beautiful Spree for a traditional pre-race shake out run.
So after our finishing the route, we took it to the backyard of Zweitausend for a sunny afternoon under the credo "It's a family affair". We asked our good homie Jerkmaster to roll up and treat everyone with the finest Jamaican Jerk Chicken in town and invited Lion Kojo straight outta Amsterdam, Bone Soda's very own Skinny Macho, Dj Doowap all the way from South Africa and Serious Klein to provide the proper tunes for a block party. At this point, thanks to everyone that showed up – we feel the love <3.
SUNDAY’S CREDO WAS, “IF YOU DON’T RUN, YOU CHEER,” WHICH IS WHY WE PUT TOGETHER A BLOCK PARTY ON THE SIDELINES OF THE HALF-MARATHON TO ROOT FOR ALL OF THE RUNNERS. This cheer zone was one for the books! On this note a huge shout out to all of the marathoners who finished the race and came back to party with the rest of us like it wasn't anything to run 21k.
Big shout out also to the homie Haizel for bringing so much fire to the decks that the cops eventually shut the party down.
After cooling off a bit and enjoying the sun, we all reunited at St.Georg for a proper after party with tunes provided by Skinny Macho, Lion Kojo, Dreea, Paul Souljoyce, DJ Doowap, Dennis Branko and Jay-B.
Thanks again to everyone for the lovely weekend! There is really nothing like OUR OWN Homieshalf
